If men were women, they would be this tired too.

If men were women, they would be this tired too.

I am tired of being tired. Every woman I know is tired. There has to be more to this than lack of sleep...

‘I’m tired.’ ‘God, I’m tired.’ ‘I’m just tired’. How often have I said those phrases? How often have you? If I had a buck for every time I had bemoaned my ‘tiredness’, I would be writing this post from one of my many palatial international beachside villas. Not my heavily mortgaged cramped kitchen. I am sure I have uttered the words ‘I’m tired’ more than any others in my life, including ‘I love you’. How sad.

Tiredness has been a feature of my life for as long as I can remember. Even as a child I can clearly recall my seven-year-old self-asking the GP why he had written ‘TATT’ on my medical notes. ‘It means ‘tired all the time’, he explained. ‘It can happen when you are growing’. I eventually stopped growing at the not so dizzy height of 5 feet 3 inches. Unfortunately, I did not outgrow my tiredness.

I am tired of being tired. In fact, recently I have been questioning what this ‘tiredness’ is all about, especially as I am a woman. Just about every woman I know is tired. Is this a female thing?
